Angel Among Us?

Two years ago, I was in the right place at the wrong time. My friend got some troubling news and gave me an option to stay or go because she was unsure of what was about to happen. She was in a little dingy and there was a storm brewing... Of course I chose to get in the boat with her. No way would I leave someone in a boat to weather a potential storm in uncharted waters alone. Nothing could have prepared us for the raging storm that followed....

Her story is not mine to tell... but the cliff notes version is that her husband didn't show up for work... after having been missing for 3 weeks his body was found having taken his own life. During the time he was missing, many details were revealed that crushed my sweet friends heart and spirit. For the first week, I rarely left her side. Having been there the moment she got the first clue that something was wrong, I couldn't leave. I needed to make sure she was okay. At the end of week one I only relinquished my role when I left her in the arms of her mother. She reveals some of her journey through the storm here: http://www.ahurtingheartalovinggod.blogspot.com/2011/02/see-what-had-happen-was.html

As a result of my climbing in when the storm approached, she often now refers to me as "an angel". (http://ijustlovedailyblessings.blogspot.com/2012/12/colleen.html)I assure you I am a mere human. Although, I do like to joke that if I am an angel I haven't got my wings yet, but I do have the voice of heaven. You see, my voice is so angelic that the true beauty of it cannot be heard by earthly ears, but can only be heard and appreciated in heaven. LOL. I love to sing, but it could be considered torture to listen to me :)

I am a child of God and God called me to that place. He purposefully placed me in her life only about three months prior to the storm. You see we met initially at a women's conference for a very brief moment at my church. He orchestrated that meeting and then planned for us to cross paths again when we both showed up at the same small group. We became fast friends, quickly spending a great deal of time together and going on mini adventures. He brought her to small group that night, despite her bad mood and bad day. He moved me to follow her back to her house to be there to support her through her bad day. He placed me in her house, in her room when she got the message that was the beginning of the storm. And He planted my feet firmly in that moment to be a strong-tower/an anchor for her through that storm. He put me there to be used by Him to help her through the storm, to be a human example and reminder of His love and His constant presence through some of the darkest moments. It wasn't me... it was His Spirit through me! To God be the Glory!
